A four
wicket win over Lindum Ramblers consolidated Spalding’s lead at the top of
South Lincolnshire & Border League Division One. Josh Newton hit 69 as the top team chased
down their target of 164 for nine.
In the
closest game of the day, second placed Stamford stayed in touch with the leaders
after Simon Lem with 50 and Neil Williams (54) took their total to 198 for nine
against Woodhall Spa 2nd. However, Rob
Bee and Tom Dodds were on equally good form and, hitting 62 and 54no
respectively as Woodhall failed by just eight runs to reach their target.
Billingborough
moved into third place after declaring on 243 for three, Geordie Scott making
117. Scott then took five wickets but Belton Park denied their opponents an outright
win, batting for 50 overs to finish on 204 for nine
Chris Morris
made 95 and Phil Sneath 89 as Sleaford 2nd went fourth after racking
up a massive 308 for seven before bowling Grantham out for 82.
In Division
Two, Welby kept up their challenge, moving into second place with an eight
wicket win over newly-promoted Baston for whom Jon Howard hit 63. Baston made 139 for seven before an unbeaten
66 from James Tickler saw Welby home.
Leaders Boston 2nd won a low scoring
game against Thomas Cook but Billingborough 2nd’s quest for honours
took a knock following a 65 run defeat by Heckington who made 160 for five, Ian
Glendinning unbeaten on 63. Sam Elliott
them took five for 19 as Billingborough were bowled out for 95, pushing their
opponents up to third place.

Three newcomers Lindum Academy suffered their first defeat at the
hands of Timberland who lost four wickets chasing their opponents’ score of 62
and now lie fourth.
Friskney
top the table, one point ahead of Lindum, after beating Grantham 2nd
while Boston 3rd are third following Charlie Wards’ devastating
bowling spell that brought him five Pinchbeck wickets for just eight runs
before Peter Mitchell’s unbeaten 51 saw Boston to a six wicket win..
