SNAITH EVENING LEAGUE ROUND-UP BY GLEN SANDS



Snaith League Shield 1st Round
Goole Town and Hirst Courtney finally managed to play their oft rained off Cup game on June 26th and it was Town who ran out the winners to claim a Semi Final slot against Fishlake when they beat irst by 35 runs. Greaves hit 29 and Ben Earl 28 in Town's total of 97 all out , Dunn taking 3 for 14 and Craig Lawson 3 for 16 for Hirst who were then bowled out for 62 Louis Sugden picking up 3 for 19 for the youthful Goole side.

Division One
Fishlake have a seven points lead at the top of the Division One ladder after beating their nearest rivals Goole Town by six wickets on Thursday , restricting Town to 74 for 9 thanks chiefly to Richard Copley whotook 5 for 15 efore replying with 75 for 4 , Kev Pearson hitting 24 for the table toppers. Hirst Courtney v Askern Welfare was postponed due to the wet conditions that continue to plague teams this summer and it was the same at Hensall who should have hosted bottom clubPollington but there was a result at Burn who made 130 against Sykehouse with 47 from Parker and 41 from Montgomery before restricting the visitors to 100 in reply.

Division Two
Leaders Eggborough won a real thriller against Goole Firemen by just one wicket , the winning run being a last ball wide as they just scrambled past the Firemen's 79 all out whilst Airmyn moved into second spot when beating  Outcasts by 33 runs , posting a total of 113 for 6 then restricting the Isle side to 80 for 5. Drax Village are up to fourth following their 59 runs victory over bottom club Howden Town , Ounsley hitting 33 in Drax's score of 118 for 3 before bowling Town out for exactly half that total and finally the game at Carlton Towers against Thorne Colliery was postponed due to the wet conditions at Carlton.
