MESSINGHAM IN GRIMSBY TOWN KNOCKOUT ACTION ON MONDAY NIGHT
MATCH PREVIEW BY ANN BOULTON
A host of familiar faces are set return to the latest first round match in the Grimsby Town Knock Out when Messingham take on a Lincolnshire Cavaliers XI.
Andy Langford again captains Messingham who have named some big hitters in their squad, including Lee Brocklebank and Barton Town’s James Barker and Australian Adam McDermott.
Also in the side are Jason New, David Langford and Danny Rands, all experienced knock out players.
Messingham have proved to be one of the strongest sides in the competition over the years but face an unknown quantity in the Lincs Cavaliers team which is being put together by Matt Rutherford, now back with his old club Market Rasen after several years with Lincoln side Lindum in the Lincolnshire ECB Premier League.
A number of Rasen players are set to join the side, including Graeme Bell and another big hitter, Dale Christie, as well as players from Lindum and Bracebridge Heath. Rutherford is also hoping to tempt former Cleethorpes player Jonathan Davies out of retirement.
The match starts at 6.15 and spectators are welcome. Entry is free for Grimsby Town CC members and £2 for guests. There is parking around the ground and food is available throughout the game.
Messingham squad: A Langford (Capt), J New (wk), D Rands, S Bridges, L Brocklebank, J Barker, A McDermott, S Dalton, P Taylor, D Langford, M Lawson.
