SNOWDEN SEES SCUNTHORPE HOME TO VICTORY


NORTH LINDSEY ROUND-UP

Scunthorpe Town made it four wins in as many games in North Lindsey League division one yesterday when comfortably beating Broughton by nine wickets.
Matt Pashley took six wickets as Broughton were bowled out for 110 before Ian Snowden hit 70 not out to guide Town home.
The two other scheduled games in the top flight were postponed due to wet conditions - at Barton where the Academy side should have hosted Caistor Cougars and at Outcasts who were to host Appleby-Frodingham.

BROUGHTON 3RDS  v  SCUNTHORPE 4THS
Broughton 110 all out    
Scunthorpe 111 for 1 (I Snowden 70 no)
RESULT: Scunthorpe 4ths win by 9 wickets

OUTCASTS 3RDS  v  APPLEBY-FRODINGHAM 3RDS    -   postponed due to wet conditions
RESULT:  Outcasts 3rds   1 pt   Frodingham 3rds  1 pt

DIVISION TWO
Hibaldstow climbed to the top by gaining a terrific win against Cleethorpes who set a tough target of 193 for 9 thanks chiefly to Mike Chamberlain who hit a splendid 108, Karl Nazareth taking 4 for 52.
Hibaldstow replied with 194 for 6, youngster Josh Cowling hitting his maiden half-century (56) to see the villagers pick up a hard-fought victory in the final over.
Messingham won a low-scoring affair at Haxey to move into second place, being bowled out for 67 as Ross Simpson took 4 for 16 and Cameron Farr 4 for 27 for the Isle side.
Haxey were then bowled out for 62, Tom Robinson picking up 6 for 16 for the triumphant Messingham side.
Alkborough gained a five-wicket win at Misterton who scored 97 for 9 when batting first, Wayne Harrison scoring 55 as Liam Hebblewhite took 3 for 9.
Paul Mitchell then made 46 not out, along with an invaluable 14 not out from Jake Astle, to help Alkborough into third place in the table, although Darren Emmingham did pick up three wickets for Misterton.

Messingham 67 all out  (R Simpson 4 for 16,  C Farr  4 for 27)
Haxey  62 all out   (T Robinson  6 for 16)
RESULT:  Messingham 3rds  win by 5 runs

HIBALDSTOW 2NDS  v  CLEETHORPES 5THS
Cleethorpes 193 for 9  (M Chamberlain 108,   K Nazareth  4 for 52)
Hibaldstow  194 for 6  (J Cowling 56,  L Dickens 4 for 32)
RESULT:  Hibaldstow 2nds win by 4 wickets

MISTERTON 2NDS  v  ALKBOROUGH 3RDS
Misterton 97 for 9  (W Harrison 55,  L Hebblewhite  3 for 9)
Alkborough  98 for 5  (P Mitchell 46 no )
RESULT: Alkborough 3rds win by 5 wickets

DIVISION THREE
Only one of the three scheduled games escaped the wet conditions and that saw Upton cum Kexby win for the first time this season.
They posted a total of 124 at Blyth, thanks to 44 from Brooks and 34 from Cawte, Billy Garland taking 3 for 26 and Andy Toft 3 for 35.
The Notts side were then bowled out for 69, Toby Roberts finishing with 3 for 15 for Upton.
League leaders Luddington could not entertain Normanby Park because of standing water on their ground and the same appled at Everton, who were due to host Broughton 4ths.
