SOUTH LINCOLNSHIRE & BORDER LEAGUE (JUNE 9)

By ANN BOULTON

Leaders Spalding suffered their first defeat of the season in South Lincolnshire & Border League Division One as current champions Billingborough kept up their challenge for the top.
But Stamford made no slip-ups and following their win over Skegness 2nd now lie just three points behind the top side with Billingborough 14 points adrift in third but with a game in hand.
At the bottom of the table, Market Deeping and Grantham both lost but Deeping gained ground on their rivals, only five points separating the sides.
Boston 2nd retained their top place in Division Two despite going down by six wickets to Billingborough 2nd for whom Stuart Gollop took a hat trick.  Welby, Stamford 2nd and Billingborough all have games in hand on the leaders as do Thomas Cook who moved up the table after beating Baston.
The top three in Division Three were all without a game, thanks to weather affected pitches but Welby 2nd finally took to the field for only their second match of the season, defeating Boston 3rd by just 12 runs.
