ANN BOULTON REPORTS ON SOUTH LINCS AND BORDER LEAGUE

SOUTH LINCOLNSHIRE & BORDER LEAGUE

June 23rd

Stamford Town moved to the top of South Lincolnshire & Border League Division One following a 20 point win over Bourne 2nd.
And with former leaders Spalding without a game, 2011 champions Billingborough took the opportunity to close in on the top two with a 20 point victory over Sleaford 2nd.
Steve Scott put in a man of the match performance for Billingborough with an innings of 65 not out before taking four Sleaford wickets.
Newly promoted Skegness 2nd stay fourth after a four wicket win over Woodhall Spa 2nd, while lower down the table, Grantham recorded their first victory of the season, beating Moulton Harrox by 33 runs.
Welby consolidated their lead in Division Two with victory over Cavaliers with Boston 2nd now 15 points behind despite a good win over fellow challengers Stamford Town 2nd in a bowlers’ game that saw two five wicket hauls, from Boston veteran Paul Deans and Stamford’s Chris Birch.
And Heckington continued their good run, beating Blankney, Chris Morley hitting the division’s only half century.
In Division Three, Grantham 2nd completed a good day for the club, beating league newcomers Welby 2nd by eight wickets and, like their 1st XI, picking up their first victory of the season.
In the only other game in this division, where rain has been the winner so far this season, Claypole kept up their challenge with a two wicket win in a tight game against Pinchbeck.
