SARA GRABS A COUPLE OF WICKETS FOR FRODINGHAM

Luddington bowled and fielded very well against Appleby-Frodingham on Wednesday but once again were found wanting when it came to their batting as they slipped to another Broughton Evening League defeat.
The Steelmen batted first on a humid evening on the Isle and soon found themselves one down when Matty Fowler was caught by Danny Taylor off Jonathan Wroot for four with the total on 15. A further four runs had been added when Kieren Lindley was caught by wicketkeper Oliver Coulman , again off Wroot , for eleven then Zen Akhtar and Kieren Watson put on twenty valuable runs before the former was caught by Wroot off Arron Curry for nine.Batsmen were not getting value for shots due to the damp outfield which saw them attempt to hit out and that brought the demise of youngster Brown who was spectacularly caught one handed on the boundary by Curry off Alex Fletcher who temporarily lost the ball in the sun drenched sky ! Watson had made an impressive 28 when he was fifth man out , caught well in the deep by Darren Clark to give Fletcher his second wicket then Jack Harrison was caught by Jamie Arrowsmith off Curry as Frod stuttered to 79 for 6 in their 14 overs.
As was the case  in their last home game Ludd made a woeful start to their innings and it all began when Oliver Coulman was run out when attempting a third from a Darren Clark pull to leg. Andy Lawson was bowled by Liam Grimes without scoring then Josh Bramhill was trapped LBW by Jack Forrester to le the Isle side on 6 for 3 and a long way from their target. Clark's one scoring shot had brought him two runs in the run out incident and he was next to go , another LBW victim , this time from the bowling of Jack Harrison who quickly had Jamie Arrowsmith caught by Kieren Watson for nine which brought the total to a pityful 16 for 5.Jason Whiteley was next to go , caught by wicket keeper Matty Fowler off Sara Sundaram then Danny Taylrand Arron Curry added a little respectibility with a stand of sixteen before the latter was caught by Kieren Lindley for seven , earning Sundaram her second wicket of the evening. Taylor had reached sixteen and moved the total up to 49 when he was bowled by Forrester and the innings was soon brought to a close as Graeme Fletcher was run out and Jonathan Wroot was bowled by Guy Harley who had earlier contributed 14 with the bat for Frod.
So once again Luddington's batting let them down and they will be looking to do much better when they travel to Normanby Park next week whilst Frod will also be on the road when they head to Hibaldstow in week seven of the ten week season.
