RAIN HITS EVENING OPENERS

By Glen Sands

The new Snaith & District Evening Cricket League season got off to something of a damp squib of a start with not a ball bowled in anger last Thursday following a heavy band of rain that swept across the region.
Scheduled games in Division One between Askern and Luddington, Drax Village v Sykehouse and Fishlake v newly-promoted Burn all fell foul of the weather, as did Goole Firemen v Carlton Towers (unconfirmed as no official notification has been received from either team), Hensall v Sturgethorpe and Hirst Courtney v Howden Town in the Second Division.
Division Three faired no better as Airmyn v Pollington and Eggborough v Thorne Colliery were washed out too, so everyone will hope that the cricketing Gods will smile on them this week as the second round of games wil herald a late start to 2010.

DIVISION ONE
Goole Town v Fishlake
Luddington v Drax
Sykehouse v Askern

DIVISION TWO
Carlton Towers v Howden Town
Hensall v Goole Firemen
Sturgethorpe v Hirst Courtney

Pollington v Thorne Colliery

Clubs are reminded that it is now the responibility of the HOME SIDE to text or email the result to new results collector Glen Sands on 07746 558423 or glensands13@aol.com immediately after the match, even if it has been cancelled due to the weather. The results sheet can then be emailed or posted to arrive no later than the Monday after the game. His address is 109 Eastoft Road, Luddington, Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, DN17 4QN.
