My onfield attempt at spontaneous humour seemed to be appreciated during yesterday's North Lindsey match at Caistor, where Marshalls were batting. Caistor all-rounder Dan Healy went down to field a hard-hit on-drive but was unfortunately struck a nasty blow where the box would have been, had he been wearing one. He went down in a heap and my first thought was to check the situation in the over. A quick tally showed five deliveries to have gone and prompted the comment: "One ball left, lads!"
Dan took some time to recover, but fortunately he did, later bowling and then coming to the wicket to help see Caistor through to victory against the men from Gainsborough.
