HIBALDSTOW STARTS JUNIOR SECTION

By Jon Taylor

Hibaldstow CC has, for the first time since anyone at the club can remember, entered a junior team in local cricket leagues. The original plan had been to prepare for running a team from the 2011 season, but the sad news that Brigg U13 would not have a manager or coach presented us with the opportunity to take on the junior section a year earlier than planned.
Barry Cowling will manage the team. The senior squad will help the youngsters parents with coaching, borrowing many of the training drills learnt by Jon Taylor whilst watching the successful Scunthorpe Academy (where his son Joe plays).
Training is running at the village playing fields on Wednesday evenings from 6pm, prospective players and their parents are very welcome. Home matches will also be played at Hibaldstow.
The side had their first match on Monday night, coming second away to a strong App-frod team.
Over the coming months the club will be putting in place the cornerstones needed to move towards full accreditation and hopefully a strong and successful club with both senior and junior sections. Meanwhile, with the help of the club and the parents, the team plays on.
