NORTH LINDSEY LEAGUE DIVISION ONE
Caistor Cougars made a winning start to the 2010 season when inflicting a second successive defeat on Marshalls Sports who were bowled out for 88, Ryan Farrow taking 7 for 19 before the Cougars eased to 89 for 5.
Scunthorpe 4ths have now won both their opening games, the latest by way of a forfeit by Appleby-Frodingham 3rds who were unable to send a team to Heslam Park.
DIVISION TWO
Grimsby Town 3rds won for the second successive Sunday, this time against Hibaldstow 2nds at Augusta Street, Town posting a total of 197 for 3. thanks chiefly to Andy Grainger who scored 78 not out and Harry Warwick who added 41. Then Rich Evans took 5 for 21 as Hibaldstow fell well short of their target, despite Dale Coy hitting 29. Broughton 3rds are also 100 per cent after two games following their 106-run victory over Outcasts 3rds whose first game of the season saw them slump alarmingly to a hefty defaet. Broughton scored 139 for 9 with Joe Wiley top scoring on 45, Liam McAnaney picking up 5 for 43 for the Priorymen who then failed dreadfully with the bat, being bowled out for just 33 as Shaun Clark and Nick Dobbs both took three wickets. Alkborough 3rds set a big total of 218 for 6 at Haxey 3rds, thanks chiefly to skipper Craig Ross who hit a superb 104 and despite falling 32 runs short in reply Haxey found a batting hero of their own in Oliver Tonks who eclipsed Ross with 111 not out in a losing cause. Sadly, the other scheduled game in Division Two had to be postponed due to Wheatley & Leverton failing to send a team to Brigg Town 3rds leaving the Gainsborough outfit on -1 pt for the season!
DIVISION THREE
Barton Academy Vikings are in splendid form at present and once again it was Bradley Graves and Alan Shreeve who proved their worth, Graves adding to his first day ton with 58 and Shreeve hitting 70 in a total of 228 for 7 dec, although skipper Jeremy Evans was just as happy with the 37 scored by 15 year old D. Bishop. Bottesford repied with 140 all out in their first outing of the season as Phillips took 3 for 13 and Tom Palin 3 for 25. Luddington travelled to Everton 3rds with only ten men following a late Sunday morning withdrawal and ultimately it cost them as they slipped to a 2 wicket defeat, setting a total of 132 thanks chiefly to 41 from Danny Taylor and 20 not out from Steve Proctor, Richard Chambers taking 4 for 14 before top scoring with 34 and his father Paul 24 not out as the Gainsborough side squeezed to 133 for 8, Matt Mellers doing his utmost to win it for the Isle side when taking 6 for 66. Finally, Upton cum Kexby gained a terrific win at Misterton 2nds where Hayden Green proved to be their match winner, scoring 44 in Upton's total of 114 all out then picking up 5 for 7 as Misterton were bowled out for 71, Beecroft topmscoring for the home side with 31.
