OUTCASTS FLY FLAG FOR NORTH LINCS IN SNAITH EVENING LEAGUE

By Glen Sands

The Snaith League will operate with two divisions of eight teams this year and all sixteen were due to play on Thursday, although sadly the fixture list was reduced by half as the wet weather took its toll on the opening evening.

DIVISION ONE
2011 Champions Askern Welfare began their campaign with a tough visit to Fishlake and it was the home side who took the points with a narrow 11 runs victory. Skipper Josh Mason hit 46 and Dave Johnson 29 as Fishlake posted a total of 109 for 3 then Sam Mason bowled a terric four over spell taking 3 for 10 to help restrict Askern to 98 for 7 whilst top scorers in Division One were Burn who set a target of 126 for 9 against Pollington thanks chiefly to Ray Adamson who scored the only half century of the opening evening ( 58 ) then captain Jamie Bingle picked up 3 for 15 and Graeme Parker 3 for 12 as Pollington were reduced to 81 for 7 in their allotted overs.. The one other top flight match that produced a result was at Hensall who made 81 for 8 , a total which visiting Sykehouse surpassed for the loss of five wickets whilst the game between newly promoted Hurst Courtney and Goole Town was postponed due to wet conditions at Hurst.

DIVISION TWO
Only one game survived the wet conditions in Division Two and that was at Eggborough who made a very creditable 126 for 9 against Carlton Towers , Leo Howard hitting 32 with Drew Pearson adding 28 and Scott Tyson 26 for the home side who then bowled Carlton all out for 58 , skipper Tyson taking 4 for 15 when leading from the front. Airmyn v Howden Town, Drax Village  v  Outcasts and Goole Firemen v Thorne Colliery were all called off due to waterlogged grounds and all will hope they are able to get underway on Thursday when hopefully the drying process has kicked in !
