OUTCASTS BEAT CARLTON IN SNAITH EVENING LEAGUE
THURSDAY MAY 17 GAMES REVIEWED BY GLEN SANDS
All bar one of the scheduled games in the Snaith Evening League were played on Thursday as the grounds around the region began to dry from the constant rain of the previous weeks.
DIVISION ONE
Fishlake climbed to the top of the table when they beat Pollington by six wickets. Adam Slater top scored for the home side with 42 before being run out in their total of 77 for 3 then Tim Elliott guided Fishlake home with an unbeaten 38 as they eased to 78 for 4. Second placed Burn lost their 100% record when going down to 2011 Champions Askern Welfare who hit an impressive 174 for 4 thanks to 42 from Morton and 36 from Towler , Graeme Parker picking up 2 for 14 for Burn who were bowled out for 131 in reply , Jack Rich making 60 not out. There was a low scoring affair at Hirst Courtney where Sykehouse were restricted to 67 for 7, Chris Marshall top scoring with 18 with Craig Lawson taking 2 for 7 and he also contributed 16 with the bat along with 18 from Dunn as Hirst reached their target for the loss of just two wickets. Finally in Division One the Hensall v Goole Town game had to be postponed due to a clash of fixtures which meant the ground was unavailable.

FISHLAKE v POLLINGTON

RESULT : Fishlake win by 6 wickets
HIRST COURTNEY v SYKEHOUSE
Sykehouse : 67 for 7 ( C Marshall 18 ) C Lawson 2 for 7
Hirst : 68 for 2 ( S Dunn 18 ; C Lawson 16 )
RESULT : Hirst Courtney win by 8 wickets
HENSALL v GOOLE TOWN - Postponed due to clash of fixtures at Hensall
DIVISION TWO
Eggborough continued their excellent start to the new campaign when winning for the third straight match , this time at Drax Village. Drew Pearson scored 58 and Scott Tyson 38 as Eggborough set a stiff target of 153 for 2 before Drax replied with 59 for 8 , Coulbeck scoring 23 not out. Airmyn beat Thorne Colliery who made 98 for 3 when batting first behind the Percy Arms , James Stewart making 46 and Luke Cockburn 38 not out but Airmyn squeezed home with three wickets to spare to pick up their first victory of the season. There was a nail biting finish at Carlton Towers against Isle of Axholme side Outcasts who snatched the points with just one ball to spare. Carlton set a score of 126 for 5 with 35 from Matt Smith and 34 from Oliver Lister then youngster Chris Jones hit 47 and Craig McAnaney 40 not out as the Priorymen gained a hard fought victory in the gathering gloom. Finally in Division Two, Goole Firemen beat Howden Town but no further details were forthcoming when the result was chased up by the results collector.
