HAXEY v GRIMSBY IS SATURDAY'S BIG GAME

Weekend preview by Ann Boulton

With two games played, Readers Lincolnshire ECB Premier League newcomers Haxey find themselves at the top of the table with maximum points from the two games played.
This Saturday, they will entertain Grimsby, bringing together two overseas bowlers new to the league.
Chintaka Perera, Haxey’s Sri Lankan signing, and South African Johannes Diseko, who has joined Grimsby, both arrived last Tuesday and were soon in action at the weekend, each taking two wickets in their sides’ victories.
The fixture also sets up an interesting contest between Grimsby opener Richard Antcliffe, who hit 83 last week and former Yorkshire League batsman Graeme Attenborough who anchors the Haxey line-up.
Haxey’s closest rivals at the top are Skegness who visit Louth for the first game at London Road this season.  Peter Houghton has got off to a flying start with the bat for the seasiders with more than 170 runs from two games while Oliver Pringle has shone with bat and ball.
Champions Bracebridge Heath, with a win in their opening game, travel the short distance to Lindum where they will face former player Karanjit Bansal who took four wickets last week but was unable to prevent a Lindum defeat that has left them close to the bottom of the table.
Woodhall Spa, whose overseas signing Ben O’Brien claimed five wickets last weekend, are at home to Boston who lie just below Lindum and will be keen to kickstart their season after last year’s excellent performance.
Hartsholme have also had a disappointing start but will be looking to change that when they host Bourne, while Market Deeping will be looking to build on their opening match victory and stop Sleaford’s recovery in its tracks when the two meet at Outgang Road.
