BORDERING ON RIDICULOUS, THIS BAD WEATHER!

By Ann Boulton
Just one game was played in the South Lincolnshire & Border League on Saturday after heavy rain once again soaked cricket pitches – and again it was Grantham who were involved.
Having lost to Stamford in the only other game played this season, the Gorse Lane team went down to Spalding despite the efforts of skipper Gareth Bennett with an unbeaten 50.
Grantham made 141 but Matt Hendry’s 71 helped Spalding to a seven wicket win.
Sunday saw two newly promoted sides, Blankney and Moulton Harrox, complete a low-scoring but tight game in Division Two with Moulton coming out on top thanks to five wickets from Max Cusack.
Cusack helped bowl Blankney out for 104 but the visitors were made to fight all the way, losing eight wickets on their way to victory.
SCORES
Division One: Grantham 141 (Bennett 50no), Spalding 143-3 (Hendry 71).
Division Two: Blankney 104 (M Cusack 5-21), Moulton Harrox 105-8.
