ANN BOULTON REPORTS ON SOUTH LINCS & BORDER LEAGUE


SOUTH LINCOLNSHIRE & BORDER LEAGUE

Spalding marched on at the top of South Lincolnshire & Border League Division One following their huge victory over Bourne 2nd.
The Kearns family had a good day as Spalding rattled up the day’s highest total of 286 for six, Mike Kearns snr falling just four short of a century while son Charlie took six runs for 18 as Bourne were bowled out for just 38.
One player who did pass the 100 mark was Chris Morris of Sleaford in his side’s win over Woodhall Spa 2nd.
Stamford lost ground despite beating Ramblers who held their guests to a meagre 125 for nine before falling nine runs short in their pursuit.
Billingborough also failed to pick up maximum batting points, being bowled out by Moulton Harrox for 162.  Moulton then made only 87 before the final wicket fell, David Gollop with five for 19.
Belton Park finally got their season under way with a nine wicket win over Market Deeping 2nd and newly-promoted Skegness continued their good progress with a win over Grantham.
In Division Two, Tim Dyer took five wickets for six runs to help Baston to a five wicket win over Heckington but Blankney, promoted with Baston, went down by five wickets to Welby. 
And Phil Holland of Stamford 2nd hit an unbeaten 90 in his side’s victory over Thomas Cook.
Lindum Academy continued their good start to life in Division Three with a four wicket win over Pinchbeck while fellow newcomers Friskney beat Spalding 3rd by five wickets.
