It's good to see my old mate Mick Barton (ex-South Kelsey) is setting a very good example by keeping on top of the necessary paperwork.
Planning ahead for next season, having gained promotion with his Grimsby side Stamford Homes, from Lincs League div four to div three, all-rounder Mick is already planning for 2010 by registering a new player.
That's the first registration we've received for next season. If you're monitoring Lincs Cricket Latest, Mick, just to confirm Mohan Kumar Kodaganti Venu is duly registered. Not that we have many players in the Lincs League whose surnames begin with "V" - although Mick's club also have Loresh Vaid on the playing strength. And, of course, Stamford's list includes Andreas Xiarchos, whose perhaps the only "X" man on our league database.
As Lincs League registrar I'd like to urge all member clubs throughout the five divisions to spend a bit of time this close season ensuring their players are duly signed up on the necessary ECB form for 2010.
Getting the job done now saves a lot of time for club administrators and also helps me having to enter the details of a huge glut of players in late April, as is generally the case.
Spreading the load over the year makes it a lot easier for us all.
