SNAITH EVENING LEAGUE REVIEW OF JULY 4 GAMES BY GLEN SANDS

There were plenty of runs in the Snaith League on July 4th as the sun shone down to herald a predicted heatwave and there was nearly a shock for Division One leaders Goole Town as they were given a tough match at Airmyn before squeezing to a narrow but potentially vital victory.

DIVISION ONE
Goole set a target of 139 at Airmyn with 50 from Ounsley and 27 from Oliver Sugden and with two balls remaining the home side required three to win but finished on 136 for 8 , Gav Clark hitting 46 and Rob Bramham 27 in a thrilling game. Fishlake remain two points behind Goole after they beat lowly Burn by 43 runs , Steve Johnson hitting 53 and Tim Elliot 37 in their score of 167 for 5 before restricting the visitors to 124 for 7 , although Hunter hit the games top score of 68 for Burn and there was a tight finish at Hirst Priory where Askern Welfare just bettered Isle of Axholme side Outcasts by four runs.
