SCUNTHORPE STEELMEN CLINCH TITLE IN BROUGHTON EVENING LEAGUE

Appleby-Frodingham clinched the Broughton Evening Cricket League title on July 10th when they beat nearest rivals Scunthorpe Scorpions by 8 wickets, WRITES GLEN SANDS.
Frod restricted Scunthorpe them to 87 for 7 before Simon Taylor hit 40 in their reply of 88 for 2.
Barton Town climbed into third spot following their five wicket victory over Normanby Park who made 82 for 7, only for Dan Tolson to hit 36 and Ian Andrews 30 for the Humbersiders. 
Deposed Champions Broughton suffered an eleven runs defeat at Luddington where Matthew Teal retired on 53 in the Isle sides 115 for 7 , Shaun Clark taking 3 for 24 then Danny Minshall top scored with 43 as Broughton were restricted to 104 for 9 , Scott Buttrick picking up 5 for 28 and Liam McAnaney 3 for 28 for Ludd.

RESULT : APPLEBY FRODINGHAM win by 8 wickets

LUDDINGTON  v  BROUGHTON

RESULT : LUDDINGTON win by 11 runs

Wednesday, July 17th sees the penultimate fixtures of the 2013 season take place with new champions Appleby-Frodingham heading to Normanby Park and second placed Scunthorpe Scorpions welcoming Luddington to Heslam Park. The other game has Barton Town travelling to Broughton. Games start at 6.15pm.
