FOUR CENTURIES SCORED ON AMAZING SUNDAY

ROUND-UP BY GLEN SANDS

The sun shone and the runs flowed in the Amazing Smile North Lindsey League games on Sunday, July 7 - with  four centuries across the three divisions.

DIVISION ONE
Leaders Grimsby Town suffered their first defeat of the season when they were beaten at Appleby-Frodingham where Tom Brooks hit 100 for the Steelmen who scored 222 for 6 before bowling the visitors out for 45 , Liam Grimes taking 4 for 5 and Jack Harrison 3 for 9 which included a hat trickand there was also a ton at Caistor where Harry Boulton made 130 not out in the Cougars total of 259 for 3 , Andy Pearson hitting 85 not out in an unbroken stand of 172 , Hibaldstow replying with 80 all out. Finally in Division One there were maiden half centuries for Dan Peacock ( 56 ) and Oliver Dolman ( 52 ) for Scunthorpe who scored 201 all out against Broughton for whom Tom Brock took 5 for 72 , then Matt and Josh Pashley picked up five wickets each as Broughton were dismissed for 79.

RESULT : CAISTOR COUGARS win by 179 runs

SCUNTHORPE TOWN  v  BROUGHTON
Scunthorpe : 201 all out (  ( M Singh 57 ; Dan Peaciock 56 ; O Dolman 52 )  T Brock  5 for 70
Broughton : 79 all out                   M Pashley 5 for 13 ; J Pashley 5 for 46
RESULT : SCUNTHORPE TOWN win by 122 runs.


DIVISION TWO
There is a four way tie at the top of the Division Two table after Isle sides Haxey and Outcasts beat Messingham and Barton Acadamy Vikings. Sam Yates and Neil Birkitt both hit 34 as Messingham scored 162 for 7 against Haxey who reached their target for the loss of three wickets , Ethan Tonks making 69 not out whilst the Vikings were bowled out for 69 at Outcasts where Graeme Fletcher and Tom Sharpe took three wickets each before the Priorymen eased to 70 for 2.

MESSINGHAM  v  HAXEY
Messingham : 162 for 7 ( S Yates 34 ; N Birkitt 34 )
Haxey 163 for 3 ( E Tonks 69 no )
RESULT : HAXEY win by 7 wickets

OUTCASTS v  BARTON VIKINGS
Vikings : 69 all out
Outcasts : 70 for 2
RESULT : OUTCASTS win by 8 wickets

DIVISION THREE
It was a red letter day for 14 year old Kash Suresh of Upton cum Kexby who followed his first senior half century on Saturday with his first ever ton on Sunday , the young man hitting 114 against South Kelsey but it was in a losing cause as Kelsey overhauled the target of 188 for 9 when reaching 191 for  7 thanks chiefly to Connor Hawkins who hit 70 and Ben Brown who scored a quickfire 47 in a game that doubled as a Cup Semi Final as was the game at Everton who posted a total of 209 for 8 against Blyth CC , Steve Johnson scoring 56 not out and Dan Brighton 40 only for Blyth to reach 211 for 8 with just four deliveries in hand , Cooper hitting 37 and Liam Penrose 33 for the victors. The fourth ton of the day saw Ian Mansfield make 130 for Cleethorpes at Misterton where the Meggies racked up 304 for 5 before bowling their hosts out for 51 , Rob Cowlam taking 4 for 9.
The Division Three Cup Final will be played at Messingham on September 1st when South Kelsey will take on either Blyth  or Cleethorpes.
