ARTHUR BRANT TROPHY FINAL REPORT BY GLEN SANDS
The
Arthur Brant Trophy Final of the Snaith Evening League - played at Goole Town on an excellent track - saw Carlton
Towers emerge triumphant against Eggborough to lift the silverware for an
unprecedented fourth time.Carlton batted first at a sun blessed
Westfield ground setting a formidable target of 150 for 3 thanks in the main to
skipper Scott Woffenden who hit a career best 93 not out , figuring in a third
wicket stand of 98 with Louis Ellin who hit 33 himself , Danny Eden bowling his
four overs for Eggborough finishing with 2 for 12 and he then produced a
splendid performance with the bat as well , scoring 57 not out with a variety of
shots but it was ultimately to no avail as Carlton clinched victory by 22 runs ,
Scott Woffenden being awarded the Man of the Match award for his excellent 93
for his team.
