OUTCASTS CLOSE IN ON SNAITH LEAGUE DIV 2 LEADERS

The wet conditions continued to cause problems for the majority of the Snaith League clubs with just two games being played across both divisions, WRITES GLEN SANDS.

DIVISION ONE
League leaders Fishlake were awarded the three points against Hensall who were unable to raise a team to travel to the table toppers which means they now need just one more point from their remaining three matches to clinch the title. Burn moved into joint second place following their 12 run victory over Hirst Courtney , Burn scoring 114 for 3 the runs being shared by Montgomery ( 28 ) , T Rich ( 26 ) , Calvert ( 23) and Webster ( 21 ) before restricting Hirst to 102 for 7 , Phil Alford top scoring with 26 for the visitors whilst the other two scheduled games , Askern  v  Sykehouse and Pollington  v  Goole Town were both postponed de to waterlogged grounds.

DIVISION TWO
Leaders Eggborough were thwarted by the weather at Howden Town which allowed Outcasts to close the gap at the top to three points when they won by five wickets at Thorne Colliery who made 67 for 9 with Luke Cockburn hitting 18 and Sam Appleby 13 not out as Alex Fletcher took 3 for 8 and Niall Chester 2 for 13 then skipper Peter Tait guided the Priorymen to 69 for 5 with two overs to spare. Airmyn's home game against Carlton Towers was lost to the wet conditions and it was the same story for Goole Firemen who were due to host Drax Village.
