JOSH BRAMHILL HITS EXCELLENT HALF-CENTURY FOR OUTCASTS

BY GLEN SANDS

It's going to be a mighty close run affair at the top of the Snaith Evening Cricket League Second Division as to who finishes in the promotion places as no less than three sides could still feature with just one round of games to go.
Airmyn are in pole position following their thrilling win at Drax Village with just three deliveries of the game remaining.
Steve Smith had guided Drax to an impressive 152 for 2 in making 78 not out but the men from the Percy Arms battled hard and broke the winning tape in the final over thankds in no small part to Stevens who made 32 not out.
The other two sides looking to finish n the top two went head to head at Hirst Priory in what was a  very tense affair.
Outcasts scored 102 for 6 with youngster Josh Bramhill making an excellent 50 and for long periods Eggborough appeared likely to overhaul that target as skipper Scott Tyson and Colin Tyson batted well but Scott was eventually out for 39 and Colin stranded on 36 not out as their team fell eight runs short from their allotted overs which means the Isle side now leapfrog them in the table. Goole Firemen are to be congratulated for their participation in their game against Carlton Towers as they only had nine men then lost another to injury once the game got underway!
Carlton took advantage of the inevitable gaps in the field to post a total of 198 for 3 , Mark Spetch hitting 64 not out and Oliver Lister 49 then the  Firemen replied with a valiant 85 , Whaley making 28 not out. Finally Thorne Colliery picked up their third win of the season when beating Howden Town by 46 runs, Marshall hitting 68 and Cockburn 42 for Thorne in their score of 151 for 6 then Howden replied with 105 for 7, Walker hitting 36 and A Marshall 25 for Town.
