As the season moves into the final few weeks, all three Divisions in the North Lindsey League are beginning to shape up with one title already decided and the other two looking to be two horse races.
In Division One, Caistor Cougars and Grimsby Town are vying to take the title rom Cleethorpes 5ths and both won their respective games on Sunday. The Cougars bowled Messingham out for 141 thanks chiefly to Wijeratne's excellent bowling figures of 6 for 29 then skipper Gareth Johnson saw them safely home when hitting 32 in their total of 142 for 6 but Grimsby Town kept up the pressure on the Cougars and remain just three points behind with a game in hand following their victory over Appleby Frodingham who were dismissed for 133 , Jack Dixon top scoring with 72 as White took 6 for 29 then George Linde made 75 and Harry Warwick 43 not out as Grimsby eased to 135 for 2. The one other First Division game saw Scunthorpe Town beat Barton Acadamy Vikings by 80 runs , S Sarkar scoring 71 and Ian Snowden 52 for Town who made 174 for 8 before bowling the Vikings out for 94 although Reece Ogle offered some resistance as he made 52 not out. Caistor's game with Grimsby on August 28th may well have a baring on the destination of the title !
Outcasts were able to celebrate becoming the Second Division Champions following their victory over challengers Broughton who batted first at Hirsts Priory and made 136 all out , Joe Wiley top scoring with 66 whilst Liam McAnaney and Wes Ells took three wickets each then two familiar names from Outcasts past guided them to a six wicket win as George Torr ( 26 not out ) and Josh Bramhill ( 25 not out ) emulated the batting skills of their fathers Mick and Jonathan to ensure silverware for the Isle side. Elsewhere Alkborough beat Hibaldstow in a thriller to climb above Broughton into second place , Dave Kilgallon hitting an impreive 103 not out in Alkborough's total of 191 for 2 , Stef Wolkowski adding 42 then Hibaldstow replied with 184 for 9 thanks to 68 from Mark Nicholson and 44 from Tom Taylor.
Misterton could have clinched the Third Division had they beaten rivals Upton cum Kexby but they slipped up when losing by 18 runs leaving them needing one more victory to clinch the title. Upton batted first making 154 all out with Hayden Green hitting 53 whilst Callum Harrison 5 for 52 then Dan Pearce top scored for Misterton scoring 34 in their all out total of 136 , M Green taking 4 for 43 for the visitors. Elsewhere Luddington beat Bottesford to move up to third in the tablebut the game will best be remembered for the return to local cricket after several years off of Simon Milner who was so excited to be back on the scene that he went out to bat without wearing any pads ! Once he had them on he top scored for Bottesford with 40 in their 86 all out total , Matt Mellers taking 4 for 27 and Graham Clark 3 for 5 for Luddington who eased to 90 for 4 thanks to Darren Clark who finished the innings on 46 not out. Normanby Park were awarded the game against Everton who were unable to raise a team to travel to fulfill the fixture.
