HOW ARE BRIGG TOWN GETTING ON?

Flashback to 2000 when Brigg Town's great all-rounder, Gig Smith (centre, front row) retired from playing, his final game being away to Hartsholme 2nds in Lincs League division three. At that time the club still had two Saturday sides, one on a Sunday and a full range of youth XIs.

They once reached the dizzy heights of Lincolnshire League division one; they fielded two teams in the Lincs League; they played for years in the Broughton Evening League and latterly the West Wold League; they had under-11, under-13, under-15 and under-17 teams, producing players like Graham Day, Martin Willerton, Paddy Kenny, Dylan Hildreth who went on to play high grade cricket.
But now, very sadly, Brigg Town CC is down to just one team.
"Yours truly" has compiled a special feature about his old club and uploaded it this morning to the Brigg People website. We thought it might well interest cricketers who remember playing against Brigg since the club was re-formed in the mid-1970s. Here's a link to take you straight to the piece...
