TOP MATCH FOR ALFORD'S ANDREW

On Saturday 20 August, Andrew White, captain of Alford & District CC First X1, married Chelsea Wood at the picturesque church at Belleau in the Lincolnshire Wolds between Alford & Louth.
The club had approached the Lincolnshire League last autumn to request that their First X1 did not have a fixture in the Premier League as the bulk of the team were helping celebrate the big day.
The best man was Justin Triffitt, who Premier League clubs may remember as Alford's overseas player during the 2007 season. Justin comes from Wangaratta, Victoria, Australia, and struck up a long-lasting friendship with Andrew, with whom he opened the Alford batting during his season in the Lincolnshire League, and agreed to travel from Australia to perform his duties as best man.
During his recent two-week stay in England for the wedding, Justin did manage to turn out for Alford in the East Lindsey League fixture at Woodhall Spa, as well as organising a stag evening and attending the Scarborough Cricket Festival.
The wedding had very much a cricket theme to it. The bride walked down the aisle to 'Jerusalem' (played at the start of play in England Test matches) rather than the wedding march; reception tables were allocated as cricket grounds with the top table being Train Fen Holt, the home of ADCC, rather than Lord's; and there was the second round of an 'Australia versus England' boat race between the reception and evening function with James Smith (ADCC & England) taking a 2-0 series lead against Glyn James (South Croydon & Australia - Alford's current overseas player) in a very fast and close run contest!
The honeymoon has been delayed until early October when Andrew is taking Chelsea over to Australia for six months, where he will be joining Justin Triffit's club, Wangaratta, as their overseas player for the 2011/12 season.
Everyone at Alford & District CC wish Andrew & Chelsea all the best for both the extended honeymoon in Australia and their future life together.
