STEELMEN LIFT KNOCKOUT TROPHY

Appleby-Frodingham lifted the North Lindsey League Division One Knock Out Trophy at Hibaldstow when beating Messingham by 80 runs last Sunday. Frod batted first , making 226 for 9 in their 40 overs with 55 from Matty Fowler 42 not out from Brendan Handley , 41 from Jack Dixon and 37 from Jack Forrester , then Messingham replied with 146 all out although it took a spectacular running catch by Dixon off the big hitting Matt Lawson who crashed a quickfire 51 to settle their nerves , Dixon staking a major claim for man of the match as he also took 3 for 25 along wit Paul Hilton who picked up 3 for 5 for the Steelmen.

DIVISION TWO
Broughton 3rds climbed into second place behind Champions Outcasts when they won a high scoring match at Haxey 3rds who set a target of 189 for 7 thanks chiefly to Oliver Tonks who hit 50 , Mark Metcalfe cracking 43 and Graham Skelton 41 for the Isle side as Shaun Clark took 5 for 59 for Broughton. Nick Dobbs top scored for the visitors with 63 and James Watson 35 as they replied with 190 for 4. The two teams meet again at Barton on Sunday in the Division Two KO Cup Final.

Broughton : 190 for 4 ( N Dobbs 63 ; J Watson 35 )
RESULT : Broughton 3rds win by 6 wickets

DIVISION THREE
Misterton 2nds clinched the Third Division title when winning by 57 runs at Normanby Park. Richard Taylor top scored for the Nottinghamshire side as they made 148 for 7 , Mark Knapton taking 3 for 54 for Normanby who were then bowled out for 91 , Alex Czabaniuk hitting 36 whilst that man Taylor picked up 3 for 15 to earn his side the points required to ensure top spot.Broughton 4ths are up to second following their victory over Bottesford , Broughton scoring 113 all out when batting first with 27 from Tom Brock and 24 from Jack Siddall , golden oldie John Danson taking an impressive 5 for 33 for Bottesford who were then bowledout for 50 , Siddall taking 3 for 3 , Kyle Kitchen 3 for 8 and Tom Reed 3 for 21 and finally the dress rehearsal for the Third Division KO Cup Final went the way of Everton against Upton cum Kexby who set a target of 123 all out thanks to Martyn Snell who hit 37 and Hayden Green ( 26 ) , Bobby Johnson taking 3 for 54 then Richard Chambers replied with 36 and G Rehmen 24 not out as Everton reached 124 for 8 in a tight finish , Ben Alsop picking up 4 for 30 and Josh McCabe3 for 30 for Kexby.

  1. Looking at the amount of team's in all 3 division,surely it's time the heirachy for the league made the north lindsey league a two league competition with 10 teams in each league.just a thought.
