Cleethorpes
are in action in the second match of the first round of the Grimsby Town Knock
Out.
The Meggies
take on Hull team Fenner who make the journey
across the Humber on Monday to begin their latest
attempt to win the Grimsby Town Knock Out.
Fenner, who
are keen supporters of the competition but have never lifted the trophy,
reached the final two years ago and the semi-final in 2012 but could find
progression into the semis tough this year if their opponents are at full
strength – last year, Cleethorpes went out to Louth in the first round after
injury and county commitments robbed them of several players.
Yorkshire
ECB Premier League side Cleethorpes are currently just below half way in a tightly-bunched
mid-table and Fenner are in a similar position in Division One of the York
& District Senior League.
Old hands
Ross Davy and Paul Scrowston continue to shine for the north bank side while
Bill Kirby is approaching 600 runs for the Meggies and tops the Yorkshire
League batting list with Alex Osmond lying third in the wickets table.
The match
starts at 6.15pm at the Augusta Street ground in Grimsby, and the umpires are Steve Boulton and Gary Dawson.
