Technical gremlins within the websites' domain which kindly hosts Lincs Cricket Latest meant the boffins had to restore things to a previous date and we lost a day's postings. This would normally present no issues but, sadly, we had not kept a copy of our piece about about the chicken which regularly pops along to watch Alkborough Cricket Club in action at West Halton Lane. The story contained many puns about plucky performances, egg-citing cricket and poultry team totals. We also mentioned how Alkborough's 2nd X1 captain had been a spectator at a recent Sunday match...Chicken and Chippies?
Perhaps you read the orginal before the system crash; if not, this will have to suffice.
PS: "About about" is no mistake in the story. It's been put there on purpose for all fans of cartoon legend Foghorn Leghorn, whose distinctive way of speaking - I say, way of speaking - was later taken up so successfully by the big butcher on Coronation Street. If they are looking for a name for Alkborough's chicken, then "Fred" would seem ideal. Though the 2nd X1's veteran keeper/batsman may have other ideas.
