It was cup Sunday in the North Lindsey Cricket League and there were several outstanding achievements in all Three competitions.
DIVISION ONE KO CUP 1ST ROUND
Ramesh Chand had a terrific game for Scunthorpe 4ths when they took on Cleethorpes 5ths at Heslam Park when hitting 83 in a total of 213 for 5 aided by Tom Brumby who added 54 then Chand took 8 for 17 as the visitors were bowled out for 39 , the result earning Scunthorpe a trip to App Frodingham 3rds in the Semi Finals on July 31st. Kieran Lindley hit an unbeaten 95 and Donovan Deeble 80 when Messingham 3rds posted a total of 240 for 7 against Barton Academy Vikings , Gary Bell picking up 3 for 46 for the Humbersiders who in reply made 183 for 7 , Reece Ogle top scoring with 38 as Sheldon Sekul took 3 for 35 for Messingham and they will meet Grimsby Town 3rds in the Semis who gained a comfortable nine wicket win at Caistor Cougars , the Cougars scoring 154 for 8 thanks chiefly to Andrew Pearson's 40 and Liam Wood's 31 before Goerge Linde guided Grimsby home with 77 not out along with Brendan Volley who finished unbeaten on 37.
DIVISION TWO KO CUP 1ST ROUND
Holders Outcasts fell at the first hurdle this season when they lost by 10 runs to neighbours Haxey in a game which was dominated by Haxey youngster Joe Scott who hit 106 not out in Haxey's total of 166 all out then he took 4 for 47 as Outcasts were bowled out for 156 , Jamie Belton making 69 for the Priorymen and that earns Haxey a home draw against Hibaldstow 2nds in the Semi Finals on July 31st. Jon Loates scored 74 and Will Savill 65 as Wheatley & Leverton hit 294 for 7 against Barton Town 4ths and Savill also pitched in with the ball , taking 3 for 28 as Barton were bowled out for 159 , Tom Palin hitting 49 and Andy Genney 37 not out which means Wheatley will now meet Broughton 3rds in the other Semi Final as they saw off Alkborough 3rds by 119 runs , Nick Dobbs scoring an exceptional 109 not out when Broughton set a target of 249 for 8 which Alkborough fell well short of.
DIVISION THREE KO CUP 1ST ROUND
Cup holders Upton cum Kexby made it through to the Semi Finals with a comfortable victory over Bottesford, Hayden Green scoring 72 not out and Shaun Metcalf 45 for Upton who made 201 for 5 when batting first , W Khan taking 3 for 52 but despite 34 from both Farrell and Andy Sharp Bottesford could only manage 133 in reply with Andy Orton picking up 4 for 26 for the holders. Beaten Finalists Luddington set a score of 187 for 7 at home to Broughton 4ths with 40 from Graham Clark and 34 from brother Darren but Broughton reached that target with an over to spare with 52 from Neil Simpson , 47 not out from Jake Parker and 43 from Craig Hall in what was a deserved victory for Tom Brock's team who will play hosts to Upton on August 14th in the Semi Finals. Misterton 2nds made short work of Normanby Park who were skittled out for 21 , Darren Emmingham taking 4 for 2 before Tim Sharpe blasted 18 not out in their reply of 22 for 0 whilst Everton 3rds beat Isleonians by 6 wickets in the other 1st Round tie , Robert Hunter Shaw scoring a half century for the villagers and therefore setting up a Semi Final clash with neighbouring Misterton 2nds.
