JACK ENJOYS HIS SUITE (AND SWEET)
Scunthorpe Town's scorer, the ever-jovial Jack, enjoying his tea at Heslam Park yesterday. Due to a big wedding and a rugby match going on at the same time, Scunthorpe Town CC utilised the computer suite as the tea venue for the Lincs premier division match with Haxey. Town are clearly well equipped to deal with today's online scoring and registrations system. Jack, like many, remains a scorer of the old school, diligently recording runs and wickets in a traditional scorebook in the big scorebox at Heslam. In the Yorkshire League, and other leading competitions under the watchful eye of the ECB, the scoring is done on laptops, although some scorers in the 70-plus age group have been given permission to carry on with the paper and pen method.
