I umpired yesterday's Lincs div two game at West Halton Lane between Alkborough 2nds and Keelby, when the ground's spectating chicken was again a talking point (see our earlier posting on this topic by searching for Chicken).
Having lapped the boundary and visited the spectators in their viewing hut in the corner of the ground, it got braver and ventured right out into the middle, having to be escorted from the field of play by Alkborough batsman Neil Gray - in the direction of the clubhouse.
One further chicken/cricket-related pun came to me yesterday: Pullet to leg.
If that made you groan, we'd like to point out that it seemed to amuse one or two of the Keelby lads.
