After the washout suffered
across the board a week earlier the Snaith League got back into action with all
seven scheduled matches being played in the two divisions.
SNAITH LEAGUE
DIVISION ONE
Fishlake are making the early running this year as they won
for the second time in three outings , the latest being a 52 runs victory over
bottom of the table Airmyn who were reduced to 43 after Fishlake had set a
target of 95 for 6. Thorne Colliery have adapted well to life in the highest
division and they made it two out of two wins when beating Howden Town who
gained promotion with them last year. Howden were restricted to 80 for 8 as
Marshall top scored with 24 , Luke Cockburn taking 3 for 13 for Thorne who then
eased to 81 for 3 thanks chiefly to Langdale's 39 and Cutts 26 not out ,
Marshall picking up 3 for 14 for Town. The one other Division One game saw Aaron
Gillies hit 30 and Josh Gillies 28 as Askern made 107 for 5 against Outcasts but
the Isle side batted well in reply , reaching 108 for 5 off 17 overs , Oliver
Coulman guiding them home with 40 to take them into equal third in the
table.
SNAITH LEAGUE DIVISION TWO
There are joint leaders in
Division Two with Carlton Towers and Hirst Courtney level on seven points. Rob
Holah hit 51 for Carlton in their total of 105 for 7 at Eggborough who were
bowled out for 84 in reply , Cruise making 21 and Shaw 20 as Torn took an
impressive 5 for 17 for Carlton whilst Hirst hit the biggest score of the night
when reaching 144 for 9 against Drax , Jack Rich hitting 77 not out and Jake
Wild 26 with Matty Atkinson taking 3 for 15 then Craig Lawson starred with the
ball picking up an incredible 4 for 0 as Drax were bowled out for 63 with team
mate Morris taking 3 for 10 to make it an excellent all round team effort.
Pollington gained a terrific two wicket victory at Burn who were bowled out for
70 with E Montgomery top scoring on 23 , Smails being the pick of the bowlers
with 3 for 9 then Hopkinson saw his team home with 40 in a total of 74 for 8 ,
although Pearce bowled valiently for Burn as he took 3 for 5 in a tightly fought
contest. Finally Sykehouse picked up their first win of the season when beating
Hensall by five wickets , chasing down Hensell's 100 for 6 with just an over to
spare.
