MAY 3 HIGHLIGHTS: READERS LINCOLNSHIRE ECB PREMIER CRICKET LEAGUE

BY ANN BOULTON

Bracebridge continued their run of maximum points in the Readers Lincolnshire ECB Premier League with victory over Market Rasen, while second placed Spalding were held to a draw by Billingborough.
Tom Andrews took seven wickets as Market Deeping picked up 20 points against Grimsby to go third but last season’s champions Sleaford were on the wrong end of a draw at Bourne and slip to fourth.
Market Rasen were no match for Matt Carter whose five wickets took his total to 14 from three games.  Rasen were all out for 130 and Nick John’s unbeaten 65 saw the leaders to an eight wicket win.
At Billingborough, Thivanka Rajatne put in a man of the match performance for Spalding, hitting 82 runs and taking five wickets. Spalding were dismissed for 212, with veteran Roy Tilley taking five for the home side while captain Steve Scott ensured his side took 11 points from the game with an unbeaten 57 which saw Billingborough reach 178 for nine.
Woodhall Spa were also held to a draw after reaching 229 for eight, thanks to half centuries from Sam Evison and Matt Sargeant.  Louth were then reduced to 32 for three before Amila Wettasinghe and Henry Tye staged a comeback with a partnership of 89.  From here, wickets fell steadily but the final pair held on, Louth finishing 181 for nine.
Chris Jones was the day’s top scorer with 98 for Market Deeping who amassed 279 for seven and despite Maninder Singh’s unbeaten 51, Grimsby slumped to 98 all out.
Carl Wilson was unbeaten on 75 when Bourne’s overs ran out with the score on 231 for eight and despite Tim McIntosh batting through for an unbeaten 92, Sleaford finished 30 runs short of their target.
Lindum recorded their first victory of the season after losing early wickets to a determined Skegness bowling attack.  Luke Robinson’s 71 was the mainstay of the innings of 200, the final wicket falling in the 50th over after the last pair had added 42.
Skegness fought hard but the batsmen were unable to build any sizeable stands and the seasiders were all out for 134, Stuart Turner claiming five for 22.

Roy Tilley was a member of the team when Billingborough played their first ever game in a league (in 1986 when they joined the South Lincolnshire & Border League).  Yesterday he took five wickets against Spalding in Billingborough's first season in the Lincs ECB Premier League.
