CUP SUCCESS FOR CLEETHORPES AND BARTON IN AMAZING SMILE NORTH LINDSEY CRICKET LEAGUE ON MAY 25

Heavy rain on  Friday and Saturday meant only two of the scheduled Amazing Smile North Lindsey Cricket League Divisional Cup games were played on Sunday (May 25th) with victories for Cleethorpes and Barton Vikings, writes GLEN SANDS.

AMAZING SMILE NLL DIVISION TWO KO CUP 1ST ROUND
There was a close finish to the game between Hibaldstow and Cleethorpes with the Meggies squeezing home by just two wickets in a relatively low scoring thriller. Hibaldstow were bowled out for 113 with Josh Cowling top scoring on 27, Andy Andy Severn taking 3 for 19 for Cleethorpes who then replied with 115 for 8, thanks in the main to wicketkeeper Craig Brown who made 36, Tom Taylor picking up 4 for 27 for the home side.  The winners will travel again in the Semi-Finals , heading to either Luddington or Caistor Cougars, those two having to try again on June 1st following the cancellation of their game on the Isle of Axholme and Ludd's neighbours Outcasts were another team to suffer from waterlogged conditions as their game against Everton was called off, that one being for league points as well which means they share one point apiece. They will try again at Everton on June 8th.


AMAZING SMILE NLL DIVISION THREE KO CUP 1ST ROUND
Barton Vikings won a place in the Semi-Finals when beating Normanby Park by 46 runs, setting up a trip to Upton cum Kexby or Messingham (that game now being scheduled for June 29th ). George Short hit 42 while James and Mark Austin both scored 31 in the Vikings total of 164 for 5, Declan Dunning finishing with figures of 3 for 16 and he also hit 29 for Normanby along with 41 from Hearn as they were bowled out for 118, Jack Waller taking 4 for 13 and George Short 3 for 14.

Alkborough  v  Haxey and Scunthorpe Town  v  Appleby-Frodingham will have to try again before progressing into the Semi-Finals, the latter agreeing to double up their league game on June 1st so as to determine who heads through.
