WEATHER WASHES OUT BROUGHTON EVENING LEAGUE'S SECOND WEEK

There was no cricket played in the Broughton Evening League on May 29th due to a combination of rain and an early cancellation that saw Luddington concede to Appleby Frodingham through lack of numbers, writes Glen Sands.
The Isle side were due to play at Brumby Hall against Appleby Frodingham but had to concede because after exhaustive attempts to find enough players secretary Glen Sands was left with no alternative but to advise their opponents that they were unable to raise a team , having only seven definites and no less than fifteen who were unable to play for one reason or another.
Ironically the game might well have been called off following the persistent rain that fell on Wednesday , and it was that rain that put paid to the other two scheduled games at Barton v Scunthorpe and at Broughton v Normanby Park.
The early decision by  Luddington to concede means Appleby Frodingham top the table with six points whi;e Scunthorpe Scorpions are two points back in second. All six clubs have now got off the mark having received a point from the postponed matches.
