Here he is bowling his off-spin for Caistor 3rds, on the way to taking an impressive 5-19 in the home game with East Halton at the weekend.
Caistor posted 209-6 and bowled out the visitors to Brigg Road for 50. Another "vet" Terry McKitton took 4-27.
Ern used to be a batsman of renown. Look in old Lincolnshire League handbooks of long ago and you'll see him high up in the averages. And in a much higher league that div four. These days he's likely to come to the crease at 10 or 11, leaving it to the younger players in the team.
