Just one
point separates the top two in the South Lincolnshire & Border League
Premier Division after Grantham and Lindum Ramblers fought out a tight game at Gorse Lane , the home side claiming victory
with six balls remaining.
Lindum stay
in first place but as well as Grantham breathing down their neck, they have Boston in third just nine points adrift.
The top
four all won, Boston defeating Sleaford 2nd
despite Simon Godby scoring the day’s only century while Bourne – for whom
James Keywood took six wickets - beat Belton Park who are in fifth place.
Billingborough
2nd are the new leaders in Division One following their victory over
Woodlands, with Boston
2nd five points behind and Market Deeping in third, seven behind Boston .
Deeping
went down to a surprise defeat by bottom side Friskney while Boston scored a five wicket win over
Baston.
Lindum 3rd
once again hit the highest total in Division Two, scoring 202 for eight before
bowling Spalding out for 67. But Freiston
retained top place, hitting 200 for nine against Boston 3rd at the Mayflower
Ground despite Tom Appleyard’s hat trick for the home side. Boston were then bowled out for 107.
League
newcomers Belton Park 2nd recorded their
second win of the season with a slender two wicket victory over fourth placed
Pinchbeck.
But the
closest game of the day involved fellow newcomers Grantham 3rd who
set Burgh & District a target of 192 for four – and saw their opponents
fail by just three runs to overtake that total.
