OUTCASTS FINISH RUNNERS-UP IN SNAITH EVENING LEAGUE DIVISION TWO

BY GLEN SANDS

DIVISION ONE
Champions Fishlake finished the season with a tenth win from fourteen games, the other four being rained off. Their latest win came against Burn who made 102 for 7 as home skipper Josh Mason took 4 for 12 then Matt Mason made 20 not out and Kev Pearson 22; Fishlake replied with 103 for 5.
Elsewhere in Divison One the season ended very disappointingly as all the other three scheduled games were sadly forfeited! Askern Welfare were unable to raise a team to travel to Goole Town as were Sykehouse who should have played at Pollington and the third match was due to be played at Hensall who conceded their match to Hirst Courtney due to lack of numbers.

DIVISION TWO
Airmyn are the Second Division Champions following their comprehensive win against Goole Firemen , Rob Holah hitting 85 as the team from the Percy Arms made 149 for 4 then bowled the Firemen out for 55 whilst Outcasts finished in second place despite losing to Howden who gained their first win of the season when chasing down the Isle sides score of 131 for 4 , Ben Wicks scoring 50 not out along with fellow under 17 team mate Joe Welch before Rhodes guided Howden to victory with an excellent 61 not out. Eggborough would have pipped Outcasts for second had they won at Thorne Colliery but they fell agonisingly short, losing by four runs. Connor Martin scored 32 for Thorne who made 135 for 7 before restricting Eggborough to 131 for 8. Finally, Carlton Towers won a close encounter against Drax Village by eight runs, Mark Holmes hitting 57, Scott Woffenden 36 and Oliver Lister 35 for Carlton who made 153 for 8, Matt Atkinson taking 3 for 27 for Drax. They replied with 145 for 8 - thanks to Steve Smith's 50 and 29 each from Phil Tomazak and Sean Morris, Holmes picking up 4 for 17 to add to his half-century for Towers.
The season will end on Monday August 6th when champions Fishlake will look to do the double as they take on Askern Welfare in the Snaith League Shield at Carlton Towers.
