HAXEY AND SKEGNESS EQUAL ON POINTS IN LINCS ECB PREMIER LEAGUE

BY ANN BOULTON

A win for Haxey and defeat for Skegness left the Readers Lincolnshire ECB Premier League title contenders neck and neck at the top of the table.  Both teams now have 214 points, with Haxey leading on countback of defeats.
And Sleaford moved into fourth above opponents Woodhall Spa after a man of the match performance from Derbyshire all-rounder Garry Park who took a hat trick in his eight wicket haul at Jubilee Park and then notched up 51 runs. Woodhall were bowled out for 133 and Sleaford went on to win by six wickets.
In a day of unpredictable results, Lindum continued their slow progress up the table with victory over the Skegness, Luke Robinson hitting 58 runs then helping his side to victory with three wickets.
And Hartsholme moved off the bottom as they halted Grimsby’s run with a three wicket victory as Ashby AvenueGrimsby were all out for 200 before Adrian Bunn’s 50 and 67 from Kit Spence saw the Hartsholme to victory.
Haxey made no mistake against Louth, the bowlers sharing the wickets around as the visitors were skittled out for 102.  But the home side were made to fight for their points, six wickets falling before they reached their target.
Bracebridge Heath stay third after beating Boston but are now 30 points adrift of the leading pair, though with a game in hand.  At the Mayflower Ground, Boston held their opponents to 177 for seven of which Hymie Bentley hit 76, but Matt Bradley’s five wickets helped bowl the home side out for 108.
A low scoring game at Market Deeping saw Bourne bowled out for 168 and the home side fall 57 runs short of their target despite David Gillett’s unbeaten 51.
The highlight of this game was Nick Andrews’ 4-41 off 13 overs – just four days previously, the 60 year old Deeping bowler had made a victorious debut for England Over 60s. Andrews took two for 21 off 10 overs in the win over Australia O60s at Bourne and was named Man of the Match.
