READERS LINCOLNSHIRE ECB PREMIER LEAGUE

August 18

Haxey took another step towards the Readers Lincolnshire ECB Premier League
championship after winning the lowest scoring game of the day.
Bowlers on both sides dominated as the village side, newly promoted this season, took on Skegness, joint leaders going into the match.
Having put their opponents into bat, Skegness bowler Adrian Gordon proved a handful for the Haxey batsmen, three of whom were back in the pavilion with only 23 scored.
Rob Young’s 26 and 35 from Chinthaka Perera gave some respectability to the total as the final wicket fell on 124 in the 36th over, Gordon with five wickets and Saeed Bariwala with four.
Perera then reduced the seasiders to 24 for two but Oliver Pringle and Gordon pushed the score along and at 64 for two, Haxey were facing defeat.  However, the introduction of spin, in the shape of Mark Atkins and Graeme Attenborough, saw wickets begin go to tumble.
Attenborough ended up with four and Atkins three as the title challengers were all out for 104, Perera also taking three wickets and Paul Bell bowling an economical nine overs for just 18.
This puts Haxey 10 points ahead of Skegness with Bracebridge Heath still in touch with the top two after Brett Houston’s century earned the 2011 champions a victory at Sleaford.
The home side made 233 for six but Houston and Nick John (77) saw their side to a seven wicket win, dealing a big blow to the Sleaford’s hopes of a top three place.
At the foot of the table, the bottom three sides all lost, Boston going down at Lindum despite Colin Cheer’s five wickets.  Alex Hornsby hit 86 in the home side’s 163 for nine and Boston were then all out for 123.
It was a similar story at Louth, who made 190 then bowled Hartsholme out for 126, Andy Carrington taking six wickets.
And Market Deeping were also out for 123 chasing Grimsby’s 250 for nine, 14 year old Jack Wilson hitting 64 and skipper Jim Morgan ending a runs famine with an innings of 53.  Carl Taylor took four wickets for the home side.
The highest scoring game was at Bourne where Conrad Louth hit an unbeaten 100 and David Christmas 97 to rescue their side who were 61 for four before this partnership added 179.
Steady batting down the Woodhall order ate into the total, three players making over 40, but the overs ran out with the visitors 21 runs short and eight down, Darren Cousins taking four of the wickets.

Adrian Gordon - five wickets for Skegness

Conrad Louth - 100no for Bourne
