READERS LINCS ECB ROUND-UP BY ANN BOULTON

READERS LINCOLNSHIRE ECB PREMIER LEAGUE

June 15

Woodhall Spa bounced back to the top of the ever-changing Readers Lincolnshire ECB Premier League table with an eight wicket win over bottom side Hartsholme who slipped further behind the teams above them.
After a good start which saw Michael Hale and Louis Kimber put on 45 for the first wicket, Hartsholme struggled to 129 for six off their 50 overs at Ashby Avenue, Prasanna Jayawardena taking three wickets for Woodhall.
Sam Evison then hit an unbeaten 50 to help Woodhall to victory.
Bracebridge Heath moved up into second place as Matt Bradley took his total wickets for the season to 25 with a five wicket haul at Louth.  Paul Cook had earlier made 52 of the visitors’ 202 for eight Bracebridge were denied the full 20 points as Louth held on to reach 170 for nine.
It was a similar story at Sleaford who hit the day’s top score of 225 for eight, Andy Hibberd contributing 51.  But 11th placed Haxey dug in and at the close were 156 for eight, picking up valuable points that keep them in touch with the teams above them.
This left Sleaford in fifth place, but only 10 points behind the leaders.
Market Deeping dropped to fourth after suffering a heavy defeat at Lindum.  A weakened Deeping side could manage only 83 but gave Lindum a scare, reducing the home side to22 for three before Alex Hornsby and Charlie Tomlinson took them to victory.
At Spalding, Jim Morgan added another 72 runs to take his season’s total to 320 and Charlie Kearns claimed six wickets for the home side as Grimsby were all out for 202.  But with Spalding on 83 for three and Josh Newton unbeaten on 42, the weather intervened and no further play was possible.
Only 45 overs were possible at Bourne where Peter Houghton was in good form with an innings of 89 for Skegness who were 192 for nine when rain stopped play for the day.
