AMAZING SMILE NORTH LINDSEY LEAGUE PREVIEW AND ROUND-UP

BY GLEN SANDS

DIVISION ONE
League leaders Grimsby will look to make it four out of four wins on Sunday, June 8th when they take on Caistor Cougars at Augusta Street, the Cougars hoping to register their first win of the season and second placed Broughton host Hibaldstow where they will look to do the double over their nearest of neighbours.

DIVISION TWO
Luddington and Outcasts do battle for the second time this season but this time it will be for League popints as well as bragging right amongst so many Saturday League team mates while Barton Acadamy Vikings host Haxey with both teams fresh from their first wins at the weekend.

DIVISION THREE
Table topping Everton will have a long trip to Cleethorpes who will undoubtedly give them a stern test to hold on to that placing and there is something of a derby match at Upton cum Kexby who entertain Misterton , a team still looking to pick up that elusive first win of 2013

LAST SUNDAY'S ROUND-UP
There were three centuries scored on June 2 in the Amazing Smile North Lindsey League as the sun shone down for one of the best weekends so far this season and also a very rare incident that caused some debate in the Second Division match between Alkborough and Outcasts.

DIVISION ONE
Grimsby Town consolidated their place at the top of Division One with a 59 runs victory over Caistor Cougars. Steve Crossley hit 116 not out and Bailey Mawer 62 not out in their total of 212 for 6 , Ben Barrick taking 4 for 39 for the Cougars who replied with 153 all out , Harry Boulton scoring 44 and Oliver Barrick 32 , this win maintaining Grimsby's 100% start and Broughton climbed into second spot following their eight wicket win at Hibaldstow whom they bowled out for 84 thanks chiefly to Brett Fish who took 4 for 16 , Chris Nash top scoring for the home side after which Nick Dobbs with 40 not out and Robbie Glentworth with 35 not out guided Broughton home.

ADIVISION TWO
Alkborough have taken over top spot in Division Two following their win over Outcasts in a game that threw up a very rare occurance indeed. Outcasts made 133 for 9 when batting first , Mark Fletcher top scoring with 26 for the Isle side as Jake Astle took 3 for 16 and Alkborough appeared to be easing to victory at 95 for 3 when Vaidik Kishan Raj retired on 57. Incredibly Outcasts then fought back with a clatter of wickets and at 121 for 9 Raj then returned to the crease and went on to score 65 not out to win the match for Alkborough. For a while there had been some confusion as to the situation but in the end all parties acknowledged the outcome and history was written in the North Lindsey League as this has never happened before since the league was formed. Luddington lost top spot when they were beaten by Haxey for whom Oliver Tonks , back from university , hit 93 not out as they set a target of 157 for 4. Luddington were always in contention but eventually fell 12 runs short Joe Woolhouse batting well at the top of the order for 37before Danny Taylor ( 20 ) Arron Curry ( 27 ) and Mick Wills ( 17 not out ) kept Ludd in the hunt. Luke Allen picked up 3 for 9 for Haxey and Ethan Tonks 3 for 36. If anyone is wondering if the name Mick Wills rings any bells then yes it is the same player who kept wicket to a very high standard at Belton , Haxey and Outcasts. In the other Division Two match Barton Acadamy Vikings won a thriller against Messingham who found themselves needing three to win from the last delivery only for a wicket to fall which meant the Vikings won by just two runs. Earlier Matt Waller and Marc Foster had both made 34 and skipper Andy Genney 33 in Barton's total of 169 all out , Sam Yates taking 4 for 37 and newly invigorated Neil Birkitt 3 for 33 , then Danny Rands hit 33 , Cole Briggs 32 and Andy Langford 65 ( he being the last wicket to fall ) as Lucas Waller took 5 for 44. These teams have now met for the last three weeks in Cup and League but offers of a five match series were turned down by the skippers !

DIVISION THREE
There were two century makers at Chichester Road where Graham Hume retired on 105 and Mike Chamberlain hit 101 as Cleethorpes racked up a mammoth total of 299 for 4 , Andy McFarlane taking a couple of wickets for South Kelsey who replied with 102 , McFarlane again playing his part with 38 but it is Everton who top the table following their victory at Misterton who they bowled out for 62 thanks to Richard Chambers 4 for 27 , Harlow top scoring for Misterton on 34. Ed Campbell guided Everton to a six wicket win with 26 not out in their reply of 63 for 4. Finally in Division Three Upton cum Kexby posted a total of 203 for 7 at Blyth CC with 53 from Will Cawte and 45 from Hayden Green then bowled Blyth out for 105 , Andrew Toft scoring 37 and Glen Coxhill 26 , this result maintaining Upton cum Kexby's unbeaten start to the season
