Former
Nottinghamshire, Surrey and England A batsman Darren Bicknell is the
speaker at the opening meeting of the 2012/13 season of the Lincolnshire
Cricket Lovers’ Society at Cleethorpes CC.
The older
brother of England player Martin, Darren - pictured above when he spoke at the 2012 Lincs League dinner in Cleethorpes - scored more
than 19,000 first class runs during his 20 year career.
He now
turns out for Cambridgeshire in the Minor Counties Championship and in August
this year scored 107 against Lincolnshire , a match that Cambs won by just 12
runs.
In January 2009, Bicknell joined the Belvoir Castle Cricket
Trust to establish a charity that works with disadvantaged, disabled and able
bodied children to allow them to enjoy the game of cricket.
His
cricketing career and his work at the Trust will be featured when he speaks at
Cleethorpes Cricket Club on Tuesday, 16 October at 7.30pm and there will also be an
opportunity to meet him and his wife Claire at a wine and cheese reception
beginning at 6.45pm .
The cost is
£5 per ticket for the reception and the cost for non-members who wish to attend
the meeting is also £5.
