HARTSHOLME PUT TO THE TEST

By Ann Boulton

Hartsholme will face their biggest test so far this season when they entertain high flyers Bracebridge Heath in the Readers Lincolnshire ECB Premier League on Saturday.
Bracebridge are a formidable team this year with real strength in all departments, skipper Paul Cook, Nick John and Vikram Atri all approaching the 400 runs mark and Brett Houston and Matt Bradley getting among the wickets.
However, Hartsholme have shown a big improvement in their second season in the league and have learned the value of playing for points so the leaders will not be in for an easy ride.
Second placed Market Deeping will be keen to consolidate their position and to stop opponents Lindum climbing back up the table. The Lincoln side’s bowlers have been successful in restricting opponents’ scores but have lost form with the bat, though the excellent Deeping pitch may alter that.
Grimsby, hanging on precariously to third place by just one point, are at Woodhall who are fighting – with little success so far - to get out of the bottom two. However, Jack Luffman’s side are only two points adrift of Sleaford and know that their rivals face a tough battle when they take on Skegness at London Road.
Boston are the big threat to Grimsby’s position and the Mayflower team this week travel to current champions Bourne who are enjoying mixed fortunes this year. Fahad Masood is finding wickets far more difficult to come by now that teams know what to expect but the Boston batsmen will need to be on good form to keep him out.
At the bottom of the table, Nettleham pay a visit to Louth for whom Arran Brindle is on fine form and bowler Andy Carrington is proving a good signing.
