Billingborough suffered their first defeat of the season in South Lincolnshire & Border League Division One at the hands of Stamford, who moved up to fourth in the table.
Challengers Grantham and Moulton Harrox failed to take advantage of the leaders’ result, allowing Belton Park to move up to second after the slimmest of victories by over Moulton.
Only seven points now separate second and seventh in the table, with Grantham just two behind second place and two ahead of Moulton who were bowled out for 132 and claimed nine Belton Park wickets before the home side claimed victory.
Lindum Ramblers’ 14 year old batsman Will Wright took his runs total for the season past the 300 mark with an innings of 65 to help his side to a nine wicket win at Market Deeping.
And Spalding CC enjoyed a successful weekend with all three teams winning, the 2nd XI consolidating their second place in Division Two with victory over Heckington. Billingborough 2nd stay third, just seven points adrift with two games in hand while Cavaliers kept their place in the top half of the table after Dave Kennedy hit the day’s only century in the victory over Boston 3rd.
Adam Smith hit a maiden half-century and George Kyme took six wickets for Sleaford Sunday but could not prevent their side going down to Thomas Cook by 45 runs.
Spalding 3rd, meanwhile, were making sure they remained top of Division Three with a five wicket win in a low scoring game against Pinchbeck but North Luffenham continue to threaten following their ten wicket win over Timberland in which David Brew took six wickets.
Luffenham are 12 points behind Spalding with a game in hand – and the two meet next weekend at The Oval.
