JULY 3 SNAITH EVENING CRICKET LEAGUE - BY GLEN SANDS

Things are certainly hotting up in both divisions of the Snaith & District Evening League as the season enters it's final month with three teams in contention for the Division One title and four in the Second Division being seperated by just two points.

SNAITH LEAGUE DIVISION ONE
With leaders Goole having a bye on July 3rd second placed Fishlake were able to close the gap at the top to just a single point now when beating Airmyn by 28 runs. Nick Shaw scored 45 not out in their total of 115 for 3 then Ryan Pearson picked up 2 for 12 as Airmyn were restricted to 87 for 6 , Bramham top scoring with 38. Outcasts are level with Fishlake after being awarded the game with Askern who were unable to field a team to travel to Hirst Priory and the other scheduled game , Howden Town  v  Thorne Colliery was mutually postponed with a view to rearranging it later in the month.

SNAITH LEAGUE DIVISION TWO
Three teams share the lead in Division Two with fourth placed Hirst only two points behind with all four winning their games. Burn won at Pollington who set a target of 108 for 9 thanks in the main to Duncan Kiddy who hit 40 , Calvert taking 3 for 10 for Burn who then eased to 113 for 2 under the guidance of Montgomery ( 40 ) and Webster ( 25 ) but Carlton Towers remain level following their 83 runs victory over Eggborough. Mark Holmes scored an outsatnding 90 with Oliver Lister adding 36 and Rob Holah 30 in Carlton's 170 for 4 and despite a valient 54 from Daniels Eggborough were restricted to 87 for 7. Sykehouse are the third side locked on 20 points at the top and they continued their impressive runwith a 69 runs victory at Hensall , hitting 194 for 5 with Gary Strephan blasting 78 before Hensall responded with 125 for 2 , Calvert top scoring with 54 not out. Finally Hirst Courtney maintained their promotion hopes when they beat lowly Drax Village 62 runs , setting a total of 149 for 2 thanks chiefly to 70 not out from Copeland and 60 from Rich before Drax replied with 77 for 7 , Gee making 22 and Adamson 21 with Craig Lawson picking up 3 for 5 and Stones 3 for 18.

SNAITH LEAGUE DIVISION ONE

FISHLAKE  v  AIRMYN
Fishlake : 115 for 3 ( N Shaw 45 no )
Airmyn : 87 for 6 ( Branham 38 )  R Pearson 2 for 12
RESULT : FISHLAKE win by 28 runs

HOWDEN TOWN  v  THORNE COLLIERY  -  To be rearranged

OUTCASTS  v  ASKERN WELFARE  -  Postponed  -  Askern unable to raise a team

RESULT : OUTCASTS win by default

SNAITH LEAGUE DIVISION TWO

CARLTON TOWERS  v  EGGBOROUGH
Carlton : 170 for 4 ( M Holmes 90 ; O Lister 36 ; R Holah 30 )
Eggborough : 87 for 7  ( M Daniel 54 )
RESULT : CARLTON TOWERS win by 83 runs

DRAX VILLAGE  v  HIRST COURTNEY
Hirst : 149 for 2 ( B Copeland 70 no ; J Rich 60 )
Drax : 77 for 7 ( R Gee 22 ; C Adamson 21 )  C Lawson 3 for 5 ; L Stones 3 for 18
RESULT : HIRST COURTNEY win by 62 runs

HENSALL  v  SYKEHOUSE
Sykehouse : 194 for 5 ( G Strephan 78 )
Hensall : 125 for 2 ( J Calvert 54 no )
RESULT SYKEHOUSE win by 69 runs

POLLINGTON  v  BURN
Pollington : 108 for 9 ( D Kiddy 40 )   C Calvert 3 for 10
Burn : 113 for 2 ( D Montgomery 40 ; J Webster 25 )
RESULT : BURN win by 8 wickets
