JULY 13 NORTH LINDSEY CRICKET LEAGUE ROUND-UP BY GLEN SANDS

There were some outstanding games across all three divisions in the Amazing Smile North Lindsey League on July 13th as the tables now begin to take shape.

AMAZING SMILE NLL DIVISION ONE
Appleby Frodingham moved to within a point of league leaders Alkborough who's game against Grimsby was postponed due to the club being involved in Cup competitions , Frod beating Broughton by 46 runs at Brumby Hall. The Steelmen hit 178 in their 40 overs with 64 from Jack Dixon , 44 from Liam Grimes and 39 from his brother Scott as Paul Reed took an impressive 5 for 30 having been keeping wicket aat the start of the game and he went on to hit 31 in the Broughton chase along with Jake Parker who made 49 only for the team to fall 46 runs short. Scunthorpe Town have joined Broughton and Haxey on seven points now after they beat the Isle side by six wickets at Heslam Park. Oliver Tonks top scored for Haxey with 38 as they set a target of 157 for 3 , Ramesh Chand picking up 3 for 53 before Jamie Brumby guided Town home when hitting 48 of the Scunthorpe total of 161 for 4 , Josh Savage taking 3 for 22 for Haxey.

AMAZING SMILE NLL DIVISION TWO
Cleethorpes look set for a return to the top flight following their narrow victory at Hirst Priory against Outcasts. The Meggies batted first and made 215 for 8 thanks in the main to 14 year old Indian prodigy Prithvi Shaw who hit 54 in quick time having broken all records in his own country for runs scored at his age , Harvey adding 48 not out as Tom Sharpe took 3 for 28 and Scott Buttrick 3 for 58 then in form Russell Fletcher and Sharpe both hit 54 as Outcasts fell just six runs short in what was a thrilling finish. Caistor Cougars are second , five points behind Cleethorpes but with a game in and and they had a relatively comfortable win at Luddington who posted a total of 116 , Andy Lawson scoring 44 and Danny Taylor 25 with Luke Francis taking 3 for 21 and Becky Brooker 2 for 19 then Kiwi Lane Tutty top scored with 49 , aided by Harry Boulton who ended the innings 35 not out as they reached their target with seven wickets in hand. Finally in Division Three Everton picked up their first win of the season when edging to a four runs victory at Blyth CC. Everton hit 192 for 5 with Mills making 61 and Ryan Garner 37 then Blyth replied with 188 all out , agonisingly within a boudary of their opponents , Tolly Dalton hitting 68 and Glyn Coxhill 55 as Matt Gorman took an excellent 5 for 48.

AMAZING SMILE NLL DIVISION THREE
Messingham remain joint top despite losing narrowly to Mistertonwho are now just two points off the pace. Elliott Markham hit 50 for Messingham who scored 139 all out when batting first , Darren Emmingham taking 3 for 26 for Misterton and he then top scored with 36 as his side overhauled their target with two wickets to spare , home skipper Neil Birkitt picking up 3 for 41 to keep things interesting. The one other game in Division Three was another close run thing as Upton cum Kexby just saw off Barton Vikings by 10 runs. Upton were bowled out for 140 as John Mattioli hit 24 along with 20 each from Joe and Will Birkett , Tom Palin taking 5 for 27 for the Vikings and he lead the charge with 60 not out only to run out of partners and fall ten short , Will Birkett picking up an escellent 5 for 45.

Cougars : 117 for 3 ( L Tutty 49 ; H Boulton 35 no )
RESULT : CAISTOR COUGARS win by 7 wickets

OUTCASTS  v  CLEETHORPES
