SNAITH LEAGUE DIVISION ONE
Goole Town are within one win of retaining the title following their three wicket win over Thorne Colliery who were bowled out for 77 after which Town reached 78 for 7 in a low scoring thriller but second placed Outcasts kept up the pressure when they squeezed to a nine runs victory over Airmyn at Hirst Priory , Jamie Belton scoring 53 not out in their innings of 102 for 4 then Bowlers Graeme Fletcher ( 2 for 9 ) , Jamie Arrowsmith ( 2 for 14 ) and the captain himself ( 2 for 21 ) ensured that Airmyn fell short of their target. The one other Division One game saw Fishlake awarded the points against Askern who called off through lack of numbers late in the day.

Carlton Towers and Sykehouse both clinched promotion when beating Pollington and Drax respectively. Pollington set a target of 120 for 2 against Carlton with Lawson making 68 not out and Smales 50 not out but Scott Woffinden's unbeaten 59 and 43 from Rob Holah saw their team home to a nine wicket victory and it was equally as emphatic for Sykehouse who racked up a huge total of 195 for 6 at Drax thanks in the main to Allen ( 66 ) and Dinnage 63 not out ) , Coulbeck taking 3 for 22 for Drax who then replied with79 for 8 , Adamson scoring 39 of those.Burn won a tight affair at Eggborough who scored 116 for 6 when batting first , Scott Tyson top scoring with 24 for the Power Station side , young starlet Abbott proving to be quite a prospect when picking up 3 for 25 then Tom Cobley took centre stage when hitting 37 not out including five sixes to see his team home despite requiring 19 from the final over. That man Scott Tyson was economical with the ball when finishing with figures of 3 for 14 from Four overs. Finally in Division Two Hensall beat Hirst Courtney by five wickets with Hirst making 130 for 5 when batting first , Jake Wild top scoring with 51 not out only for the in form Richard Whaley to guide his team home with 48 in a score of 131 for 5 , Craig Lawson taking 3 for 16.

JULY 26 READERS LINCOLNSHIRE ECB PREMIER CRICKET LEAGUE ROUND-UP BY ANN BOULTON

Two centuries, an eight wicket haul and five catches for Bracebridge Heath captain Paul Cook were the highlights of a weekend that saw Spalding pull off the biggest upset of the day with a comprehensive victory over leaders Bourne.
Tim McIntosh took the eight wickets for Sleaford while in the same game Sam Evison hit 100 of Woodhall Spa’s total of 254 for nine.
Sleaford gave chase with Oliver Burford leading the way with 62, but the visitors fell short by 29 runs as the final wicket fell on the last ball of the game, a victory that moved Woodhall up to equal fourth in the table.
The second century came from Jamie Epton whose unbeaten 110 saw Skegness to victory at Billingborough in the highest scoring game of the day where both sides topped the 250 run mark.
Steve Scott hit 65 as Billingborough finally found some batting form to notch up 257 for nine but Epton’s ton and 52 from Peter Houghton saw the Skegness to six wicket win.
Henry Charlton made 73 and Ben Smith 81 at Bourne as Spalding finished on 239 for nine.  The home side were then reduced to 16 for four and despite a middle order rally by Carl Wilson (49) and Rob Bentley (44), Bourne were still 100 short of their target when the final wicket fell.
A captain’s innings from Steven Crossley saw Grimsby pick up valuable points with a draw at Lindum who batted their way to 247 for six, Will Wright continuing his good form with 70.  Crossley hit an unbeaten 46 as the visitors reached 167 for seven, Jake Benson claiming five wickets.
Lindum gained sufficient points to hang on to second place but are now only one ahead of Bracebridge Heath who made the day’s highest team score at home to Louth, with 279 for eight, of which Hymie Bentley hit 86 and Brett Houston 72.
Matt Carter then bowled an economical 17 overs to take four for 34 as, helped by some good catching from Cook, Louth were all out for 114.
Market Deeping moved back into third place, on level pegging with Woodhall but with more victories.  A very young Market Rasen side, with six players under 17, were the visitors to Outgang Road where Tom Andrews’ 62 and Dave Sargeant’s 51 helped Deeping to 230 before the final wicket fell.
Rasen then reached 86 for four but collapsed to 88 all out, Lee Peacock taking five wickets.

Results
Market Deeping 230 (Andrews 62, Sergeant 51), Market Rasen 88 (Peacock 5-40);
Spalding 239-9 (Charlton 73, Smith 81), Bourne 139;
Bracebridge Heath 279-8 (Bentley 86, Houston 72), Louth 114 (Paul Cook took five catches);
Woodhall Spa 254-9 (Evison 100, Cheer 53, McIntosh 8-56), Sleaford 225 (Burford 62);

JULY 19 SOUTH LINCS & BORDER CRICKET LEAGUE

Grantham suffered their first defeat of the season at the hands of Stamford Town in the South Lincolnshire & Border League Premier Division.
With their nearest rivals Boston and Lindum Ramblers rained off, the leaders could have opened up a substantial gap at the top.  But Stamford had other ideas and after Grantham had completed their innings on 184 for seven, the home side gave chase, overtaking their opponents’ total with just two balls of the game to go.
Seven points now separate top and second with Ramblers seven behind Boston who are their opponents next week when Grantham play fourth placed Bourne 2nd who lost to Sleaford 2nd by six wickets.
Matt Haslam topped the day’s bowling figures with seven wickets for Woodhall Spa 2nd in their victory over Welby.
Market Deeping 2nd moved back into contention at the top of Division One with a six wicket win over Cavaliers.  Deeping now lie third, seven points behind Grantham 2nd who beat Friskney, while leaders Spalding 2nd recorded the day’s highest total with 235 before bowling Boston 2nd out for 145.
Heckington were once again involved in a nailbiter, this time at Long Sutton 2nd where rain reduced the game to 30 overs a side.  Chris Morley made an unbeaten 49 in Heckington’s 119 for five - and at the close Long Sutton were just two short of their target on 117 for seven.
In Division Two, Lindum 3rd and Freiston have opened up a gap over third placed Claypole.  Lindum lead Freiston by seven points after beating Timberland by just one wicket while Freiston claimed a five wicket win over Burgh & District and Claypole beat Pinchbeck.

JULY 20 NORTH LINDSEY CRICKET LEAGUE ROUND-UP BY GLEN SANDS

It was Semi Finals day in the Amazing Smile NLL KO Cup and both games proved to be dramatic in their own way.

AMAZING SMILE NLL KO CUP SEMI FINALS
Overseas wicket keeper batsman Lane Tutty produced the performance of the season when hitting 207 not out for Caistor Cougars at Hibaldstow where his team racked up an incredible 311 for 5 , Joe Taylor taking 3 for 77 for the home side who replied with 141 , Tom Taylor top scoring with 49 as the wickets were shared around for the Cougars. The other Semi Final was an Isle of Axholme derby which was reduced to a 28 overs per side game due to early rain at Hirst Priory. Luddington batted first and their top four all contributed well as they set a target of 166 for 7 , Andrew Lawson making 49 , Darren Clark 47 and Jamie Arrowsmith 40 for the team from the North of the Isle , Matthew Teal taking 3 for 6 late in the innings and for a long time Outcasts were just behind on run rate despite some terrific batting by Jamie Belton and Tom Sharpe who had been pushed up the order to try and add some impetous to the scoring. That proved to be a very good move because with thunder and rain moving ever closer SDharpe realised his team needed a big over and boy did he deliver , smashing 19 in the 20th over after which the heavens opened and within five minutes the ground was flooded. That meant that NLL Fixture Secretary had to consult the rules and having done so declared that Outcasts had won by just one run with Ludd being 122 for 2 after 20 and Outcasts amazingly being on 123 for 2 !! Hero Sharpe was left on 43 not out whilst Jamie Belton had played his part with an excellent knock of 44 not out. Special mention should go to umpires Ralph Gray and Patrick Taylor who liaised well with both teams and used common sense to ensure the game was played long enough for a result to be achieved.

AMAZING SMILE NLL DIVISION ONE KO CUP SEMI FINAL
The rescheduled Cup Semi Final between Grimsby Town and Haxey was postponed due to the storms that swept the county through Saturday night and Sunday morning.

AMAZING SMILE NLL DIVISION THREE
Leaders Messingham were due to travel to Bawtry CC but the heavy rain and storms on Saturday meant that the Bawtry ground was flooded so the points were shared but there was play at Normanby Park where the home side were bowled out for 66 by Barton Vikings , George Phillips picking up an impressive 6 for 4 before James Austin's 46 not out saw the Vikings gain a six wicket victory , a result that means that the top five sides are seperated by only three points now.

HARTSHOLME 2NDS v OUTCASTS - LINCOLNSHIRE COUNTY CRICKET LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION

Outcasts continued their unbeaten run in the Lincs League Division One on July 19th when not only did they beat Hartsholme 2nds but also the weather as several games around the county were affected by the heavy rain that swept across Lincolnshire, WRITES GLEN SANDS.
Almost as soon as they arrived in Lincoln it began to rain and that meant that the game was 70 minutes late getting underway and was reduced to 35 overs per side but having won the toss and invited Hartsholme to bat first the Outcasts bowling pair of Graeme Fletcher and Liam McAnaney quickly got to work. Fletcher produced an absolute jaffa to bowl Paul Bassingthwaite for nought , nipping one back through his defences then McAnaney had Tom Manghan caught by Josh Bramhill in the next over and with only six on the board it was Bramhill again who snaffled a catch to send Mark Leverett back to the pavilion , earning Fletcher another wicket. Nick Green and Lucas Cooling offered some resistance as the sun began to shine but opener Green was then superbly caught at gully by Spud Tait to earn McAnaney a second victim. Cooling had made eight when he edged a catch to wicket keeper Mark Fletcher off Macca leaving Hartsholme on 48 for 5 then Tom Parker and Andy Putt produced a fight back of sorts until Tom Sharpe was brought on to bowl and his extra pace brought the break through when he bowled Putt for 23. Josh Pickersgill and Ben Winfield found Sharpe just a bit too sharpe and went quickly , then Parker was caught by Tait , again off Sharpe's bowling for a hard earned 19 and Outcasts had eight overs in which to grab the tenth wicket. For a while they looked likely to miss out but the opening pair were brought back on and Graeme Fletcher did the trick when he had Ben Hart caught by Sharpe for six , leaving the home side all out for 109 , Sharpe finishing with 4 for 19 , Fletcher with 3 for 23 and McAnaney 3 for 41.
The Outcasts reply began in bright sunshine and sultry conditions as Andrew Lawson and John Stokoe set about the business of chasing down the target but Stokoe was soon back in the pavilion having been caught at gully Tom Manghan off Mark Leverett for five. The in form Russell Fletcher joined Lawson at the crease and at that moment the dark clouds began to gather in the sky , prompting Lawson in particular to press the accelerator. He clicked through the gears with ease , cracking the ball to all parts with an array of powerful shots. He brought up his half century with his ninth four ( plus one six ) in only 34 deliveries but then lost concentration when the umpires took a while to decide wether to leave the field with rain threatening , the big man being stumped by Paul Bassingthwaite off Dave Smith for 63. Russell Fletcher had accumulated eleven runs and was joined by Spud Tait then the left hander was caught at cover by Pickersgill off Smith but last weeks centurion Josh Bramhill strode to the middle to help Tait see their team home , hitting one boundary while Tait finished on 27 not out to clinch twenty valuable points for Outcasts in their promotion chase.
This victory meant that the Priorymen closed the gap at the top to just five points behind Scothern who's scheduled game was postponed but they cannot rest on their laurels as they have some tough games coming up beginning with a home fixture against Bracebridge Heath 2nds who are third behind Outcasts but with games in hand.
Outcasts 2nds were due to take on table toppers Cleethorpes 3rds at Hirst Priory but the game never got underway as the rain fell from the due start time so they remain 35 points behind the Meggies in the promotion battle so they will hope to make up that deficit on July 26th when they head to Normanby Park for their next league outing.

THURSDAY JULY 17 - SNAITH & DISTRICT LEAGUE DIVISION ONE
The title race was thrown open on July 17th when leaders Goole Town suffered their first defeat of the season , going down to Askern Welfare by 47 runs and giving second placed Outcasts renewed hope of overhauling Town at the top with just two weeks to go. Aaron Gillies top scored for Askern with 66 not out in a score of 166 for 6 before Town replied with 119 for 7 , Louis Sugden making 63 with Sash Madapatha picking up 3 for 14 from his four overs. Fishlake missed the chance to close the gap on Goole following their defaet at the hands of Thorne Colliery where Josh Yeoman hit 48 and Kev Pearson 32 when Fishlake set a target of 124 for 5 but Ash Langdale made 62 not out and Connor Pattison 32 not out as Thorne eased to 125 for 1 to improve their hopes of avoiding a bottom two finish. Finally Airmyn also gave their chances of climbing out of the  relegation places when they beat fellow strugglers Howden in a closely fought contest that ended with just four runs seperating the teams. Bramham hit 33 for Airmyn in a total of 92 all out , A Smith taking 4 for 15 and Naylor 3 for 23 then Bodycombe made 26 in reply for Howden who finished on 88 for 8 , just four tantalising runs short of their target , O'Hara capturing 3 for 14 for Airmyn.

SNAITH & DISTRICT LEAGUE DIVISION TWO
It remains a two horse race at for the title in Division Two with both Carlton Towers and Sykehouse locked on 26 points and both now just one win away from assuring promotion. Hirst Courtney climbed into third spot after they beat Pollington by five wickets who made 115 for 4 when batting first , Lawson top scoring with 46 then Phil Alford made 52 not out and Knight 22 as Hirst reached 117 for 5 with Pollington's Smales taking 3 for 18 and finally Drax Village celebrated their first win of the season when they went to promotion hopefuls Burn and came away with the points. David Watson scored 34 not out as Burn made 135 for 6 , Murray taking 3 for 19 for Drax who then replied with 136 for 2 as Morris hit 72 not out and Worley 29 not out to guide them to that elusive first victory.

JULY 19 READERS ECB PREMIER CRICKET LEAGUE

BY ANN BOULTON

A rained off game at Market Rasen and defeats for Market Deeping and Louth dramatically altered the look of the Readers Lincolnshire ECB Premier League top six.
Lindum were the main beneficiaries, leaping up from fifth to second after winning at Skegness while Woodhall Spa went from seventh to fifth following their victory over Louth.
Grimsby put clear water between themselves and the bottom two, recording their third win of the season with an excellent batting performance against Market Deeping.
Maninder Singh hit the day’s only century with an unbeaten 114 and Steve Butterfield made 66 of Grimsby’s total of 255 for five – the highest team score of the day. Danny Cliffe then took five wickets as Deeping were bowled out for 104.
After a slow but steady start at Skegness, where Saikat Sarkar (41)and Karanjit Bansal (44) put on 68 for the second wicket, Luke Robinson’s 76 helped Lindum to 236 for seven at the close, Sarkar and Robinson adding 102 for the third wicket.
For the first half of their innings, Skegness were matching their opponent’s score, Brendan Young hitting 41 off 37 balls, but the combined attack of Bansal and Jonny Miller slowed the rate.
However, from 123 for seven, Umar Farooq took up the challenge, sharing stands of 29 with Paul Butler and 49 with Mark Chamberlain.  Farooq made 53 but eventually fell to Robinson and the last two wickets went with no addition to the score as Skegness were 197 all out, Miller ending with five for 59.
Spalding ensured they stayed above Skegness with victory over Billingborough for whom veteran Roy Tilley claimed his second five wicket haul.  Spalding just failed to reach maximum batting points with 224 for nine before bowling Billingborough out for 124.
At Louth, Jonathan Cheer hit 80 of Woodhall Spa’s 211 for eight before the visitors bowled their hosts out for 99.
With former second-placed Bracebridge Heath rained off at Market Rasen after nine overs, Bourne increased the gap at the top to 35 points after beating Sleaford in a high scoring game at London Road.
The home side made 245 for seven but an unbeaten 98 from Stuart Airey and 71 from Pete Morgan saw Bourne to a six wicket win.
We were saddened to hear of the death of the league’s president Harry Pougher on Saturday.  Harry did a great deal of work in helping set up the league and has been a staunch worker and supporter on its behalf over the past 15 seasons.
