OUTCASTS JOINT LEADERS

SNAITH EVENING LEAGUE UPDATE

Division One
Askern Welfare clinched the First Division One title when beating closest rivals Fishlake and in doing so maintaining their unbeaten tag for the season. Welfare made 149 for 6 thanks chiefly to Ashley Towler who hit 77 then he starred with the ball , taking 3 for 10 as Fishlake were bowled out for 90 by the Champions. In the other First Division match Sykehouse won a thriller against Hensall , posting a total of 118 for 7 before restricting the home side to 116 for 6 in a nail biting last over.

Result : Askern win by 59 runs and are Champions

Hensall v Sykehouse
Sykehouse : 118 for 7
Hensall : 116 for 6
Result : Sykehouse win by 2 runs

Division Two
Hirst Courtney continued their impressive season by setting something of a league record at Carlton Towers where opening pair Phil Alford ( 100 ) and Brian " Titch " Howard ( 116 ) batted throughout the whole innings to set a total of 232 for 0. Mark Holmes replied with 48 , Louis Ellin 40 not out and Scott Wooffenden 39 for Carlton who ended their innings on 169 for 4 on what was obviously a batsman's paradise. Pollington remain hot on Hirst's heels following their victory over Goole Firemen who are four points adrift now at the bottom of the table and finally Burn climbed into third spot after beating Airmyn , making 105 then bowling them out for 97.

Pollington v Goole Firemen - Pollington win

Division Three
Joint leaders Howden Town suffered a shock defeat at Thorne Colliery which means they remain level with Outcasts with just two games each to play , the latter being against their Isle of Axholme rivals. James Stewart hit 52 not out and Thomas Taylor 20 not out as Thorne set a target of 107 for 3 then Howden slumped to 45 all out to suffer their first defeat of the season. Eggborough had a comfortable victory at Drax Village who were restricted to 78 for 8 before Eggborough eased to 79 for 1 , Pearson hitting 36 and Morris 31 not out to set up the win.
